Oh My!!!
The goals today were 1) do some bass fishing with Mom (her birthday) and Aunt Joyce (here for a visit) and 2) catch a Channel Catfish for Bounty this evening.
We headed out to get bait and I knew that was going to be tricky. First spot, 20 shad. Decided to get small shad and be done with it. Got to the second spot and saw some small shad. Turned the boat around to net them and in the process, saw a school deep (16feet). Decided to try it and BOOM! 1,000 big shad. Dropped 500 in the tank and off we go.
We set up on the first spot and knew in a few minutes it was no good. Went to spot two and saw this. We managed 19 bass up to 7lbs. 13ozs. in the 3 hours we fished it. Lost a few as well. I dropped off everyone off but me and caught a few dozen Bream at the ramp for tonight. I then motored over to a currently hot spot and saw this. I only fished there and hour and a half and good golly......those fish were hungry...I managed 22 up to 8lbs. 4ozs. I decided to leave them biting and headed shallow for the catfish. I did not catch a cat but I did catch two more bass trying, one 5 pounder and an 8 pounder. The fish are feeding heavily again. Had I fished a full day, I could have caught a 100.
