At the ramp nice and early. It was a cloudy morning. We headed out to try a free line bite early and that didn't happen. We decided to get fresh bait and then headed off shore. We found a school of really nice bass. After that, we tried a few more spots and picked one up here and there. It was a very fun trip and a great morning to catch some bigger bass that were hungry. We ended the morning session at around 11:15 AM with 21 bass in the boat.
The best 5 bass weighed 35 lbs. 5 ozs.
After we bid farewell to the guys and a great morning of fishing, David and I went out for an afternoon of bass catching. We got some more bait and headed out to fish hard. We found the fish on just about every place we went. They were very willing to bite and David even had them biting fee lined baits in water from 17-23 feet deep...go figure. About 4:00 I had probably the biggest bass of my life on.......The hooked pulled free after a crazy fight and the bass jumped a few seconds later.....it was a HAWG....estimated 9-12 pounds.....probably on the heavier side. Oh well....would have been a Bounty contender for sure. Over all I cant really complain though because we did catch 69 bass from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM. That was FUN!!!!!! We managed to pull 90 bass over the side of the boat today!!!!
Looking forward to the rest of September....if you are one of the folks that have a trip scheduled with me this month.....it could be epic......so get your thumbs ready!!!
