That is the word that comes to mind.
I headed out to replenish the bait supply for David’s return in a few hours. I steamed to a cove we have been catching bait in and found the absolute mother-load. I have seen that much before on the Lowrance, but never more. One cast and I put about 200 shad in the well. David came back and we spent the next 4 hours looking for new spots. We fished a lot of areas but never located any big schools of bass.
We decided to replenish the bait again and found it just as easy. We dropped another 200 in the tank and off we went to a spot that is very good right now. From 4:15 to 7:45, one of us was hooked up on every single cast, and several times, both of us at the same time. I have experienced fishing nirvana, and it was good. Every person needs to experience fishing like that at least once. The evening session yielded a whopping 82 more bass from one anchored position. Our total for the day was 108 bass. The good old days are here again.
Notes for the day:
- The wind blew a gale most of the day….but it didn’t really affect us due to strong anchors. I think the fish bit better because of the wind actually.
- Bald Eagles like Harris Lake
- I got physically tired and worn out from catching bass for the first time…it felt like I was at Weldon again.
- We got hit by a very nasty storm and downpour on the way off the lake.
- We caught a lot of big White Perch today.
- The slot limit has worked. About 100 of the bass caught today were in the slot.
- The larger bass did not want to play today.
- I am very tired right now.
